Author: Great skate Good boot I've been skating since i was 4 and I know a good skate. the boot might take some time to get the hang of but the skates are really great you just have to tighten them relly good or ur ankle will swurve around causing u to twist it or fall. the laces kind of stick a little when u tighten them. also if u have a wide foot i recomend u dont get these. even i have a little tight spot by my pinky toe. but there great to hang out in or go to a local store. i just love the look on the peoples faces when i take the chassis off.

Author: James Ontario, Canada I bought a wonderful pair of skates back in '98 from Hypno in Italy - they lasted until 2003 when I bought a pair of the "Stealth" model from Hypno USA. The new model has two flaws - the new locking mechanism is quite cumbersome with it's "locking" arm (the old one worked quite well) - and the velcro strap at the top assumes you have elephantiasis of the ankles (not enough velcro for people with wrist sized ankles). One addition minor complaint - the aluminum chassis is just a two cut sheets of aluminum that came unpolished and with razor sharp edges.

Author: doug canada I love these things, you can zoom all over campus and walk right in to your lecture. you can wear the boots on the plane with the wheels in your carryon and skate out of the terminal. My suggestions for improvement: 1. Stiffen the heel bar - why not 30% GFPA? 2. Restyle the boot to look more anonymously shoeish. 3. Brakes both sides - so you're sure your right gets one. btw: I think Hypno has hit the perfect compromise between a skatable skate and a walkable boot.

Author: Luke Melia, New York I'm on my second pair of Stealths. I had the first pair for a couple of years and I abused the heck out of them. I only had two problems with the skates. First, the velcro eventually lost it's stick on my left skate. Second, the plastic piece that you rotate to lock into the boot hook latch has a tendency to pop out of the long piece it is attached to.
One wish list idea: a creative way that to make the blade parts more comfortable to carry. I put the two blades in one hand and wrap my hand around the long hinged plastic piece (maybe this is those pieces pop out!) and it's OK, but not really ideal.
Overall, I'm crazy about these skates. They've literally changed the way I live my life and I'd hate to be without them!

Author: Gareth Williams UK I've had a pair of these skates now for a year and they are amazing. They are so convenient to get around! I use them to get arouns everywhere now, I never use a car, and if it rains I can just get the bus.
so far I have been geting 30-40 miles a week out of this pair of blades, and there is a minor problems I have found:
- the velcro looses its stickiness and sometimes comes undone while skating, (which can be dangerous while doing 20mph
- the clips on the side that clip the over cover for the laces, have lost there spingyness.
Since I have got these skates no other skates have been able to compare to them. They are the best skates I have ever had. Hypno have found the perfect balance between a skatable skate and a walkable boot.
I'm crazy about these skates. They have changed the way I live and get around, I'd lost without them!

Author: Ben F I'd have to agree with the reviewers above:
These are the best out there but could be much better:
- Velcro isnt very good for those with small ankles.
- Besides that, the velcro becomes useless after a few months (just wont hold).
To make this even better than it is I (and a few others it seems) would recommend:
- Laces should go all the way up with a velcro strap to just neatly tuck the laces away.
- Make sure the lace holes are stronger than they are now... currently they're not so great. Reinforced holes would be a better idea.
- Style them to look like sneakers not space boots.
Other than that they pretty much do exactly what they advertise to do :-)

Author: Adam L Have been using these skates since Christmas of this year and am very pleased with the result.
I recently traveled to Chile to do an internship there, and they were a HUGE hit among all the people. As I would rollerblade around the cities people would stop and just watch me, and then be shocked when I would stop at a blockbuster, pop off the wheels, and walk on in.
So far there have been only a few minor problems with the skates.
1) It seems that they need to be constantly tightened to prevent losing the bolts holding them together (which is probably true of all blades, but especially so of this one).
2) There should be some kind of cover that you can put on the bottom of the hypno skates when the wheels are removed that replicates a soft shoe surface, and will protect the metal parts on the bottom of the skate from scratching and breaking.
Generally I think they are a very good quality blade, and i am very pleased with my purchase. Once i wear these out, i am sure i will be back for more.

Author: Young Dad in NYC I use the heck out of my Stealths. I love the relative ease of taking the wheel chassis on and off, and I love the looks of surprise and awe I get from people as I walk out of a store, slap the wheels on, and skate away!
I love these skates so much that the two flaws are quite frustrating:
The velcro around the ankles is a big help for stability -- until it loses its stick and becomes useless. I'd love to see this site post instructions on replacing the velcro.
The knob on each chassis arm that locks it to the boot falls easily out of its hole when I'm carrying the wheels. I'm frequently retrieving it from the sidewalk and have lost one so far. It's a wonder I haven't lost more.
Like I said, two complaints, but overall, a fantastic skate that brings a new wonderful dimension to urban living.

Author: Stopand When I moved to NYC I thought, there must be a detatchable inline skate out there somewhere, and I found them here. Do not compare these to those sneakers with a wheel at the back. These are real, street safe inline skates that rival other inline skate brands, but these are detatchable! I commute to and from work every day on my Hypnos, and I dont use them for recreation. I get my excersize as a functional aspect of my work day. Once you're Hypno healthy, excersize is a waste of time! Indeed there are many times, returning videos, running errands, visiting friends, where Hypnos save you time while giving you the freedom, fun, and excersize to express yourself. Also, when rain, or stairs, or store policies prohibit skating, just pop them off, and join the pedestrians. Take a train, or a bus and you're good to go! Get off at your stop and you're back on wheels again. You're world as a city person will be changed forever, and you'll never go back. If you ask me, everyone should have these. Cars pollute, and bikes are nice, but can you take the subway with your bike? Sure, you can lock your bike somewhere, but you can take your skate chassis with you whereever you go. I slide the levers in my back pocket, and blend in with the crowd. I reccommend Stealths, as they look most like a regular shoe, and passersby are none the wiser until you transform. Go Hypno!
