Author: Ben F These are pretty decent.... unfortunately, they aren't stainless steel - i just noticed some rust on mine :o( Make sure to wipe them off completely dry before you put them away!!!!!
Author: Howard Eglowstein (baldy672@aol.com) These blades will get you noticed at the rink. As cool as it is to be able to skate up to a store , pop off your skate wheels and walk in, it's much cooler to put on your boots first, walk across the concrete areas to the rink (no need for skate guards!!) and put on the blades before stepping onto the ice. People will stop you and ask about your skates.
I purchased these before the multiple profiles were available so I don't know exactly how they're profiled, but they seem to be a cross between hockey skate blades and figure skate blades. There's enough radius to be able to make a turn, although not as gracefully as you could with a figure skate. The metal seems to hold a decent edge and skating on thes after they're sharpened is a joy. I do wish they could come with toe picks though - I miss those.
The only problem I've had with these is that very few places have the equipment to sharpen them. Only a few specific brands of sharpeners can handle blades with such little metal exposed. I have two pairs of blades - one of them came unsharpened and I didn't get around to having them done before the rink near us closed (the first pair just keeps holding its edge!).
All in all, the ice blades make the product for me. I love the wheels, especially the aluminum chassis wheel set, but I find that I use the skates far more often in the winter because of the ice blades.
Due to higher shipping costs in Canada, we have had to increase the purchase requirement from $29 to $39 for orders of parts or accessories to qualify for free shipping. Unfortunately, postage costs in Canada are significantly higher than in the U.S.
There has been no change to the $29 order requirement for parts or accessories, in the U.S.
